Better Than Flowers, Cards, and Brunch: WHAT?!’s Mother’s Day Marathon
Every Mother’s Day, mom gets treated to flowers and brunch. This year, give her what she really wants: a little quality time with you (and free streaming movies) on Pluto TV’s Mother’s Day Marathon on WHAT?! (Ch. 542). Starting at 4 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 14th, WHAT?! (Ch. 542) has movies to make mom laugh, cry, and reminisce on all the embarrassing anecdotes from your childhood that you’re just dying to have her let out after a glass of Chardonnay.
Starting at 4 p.m. ET, we’ve got “She’s Having a Baby,” a classic starring Kevin Bacon, Alec Baldwin, and Elizabeth McGovern. This time last year, Jake (Kevin Bacon) and Kristi (Elizabeth McGovern) were two crazy single kids in love. Now they’re two crazy married adults in transition. Mom is sure to love the memories of her early parenting days and that dreamy 1980’s Alec Baldwin… Next up is “The Stepford Wives” at 6:15 p.m. ET. Mom can certainly relate to Nicole Kidman’s plight as a woman who moves into a neighborhood where a group of husbands (including Matthew Broderick) have transformed their wives into robots designed to cater to them.
At 8:15 p.m. ET. we have “My Mother, The Spy,” in which attractive young book editor Alison (Jayne Brook) discovers to her dismay that her absentee mother (Dyan Cannon) is a longtime CIA agent. Alison doesn’t quite swallow this revelation until both she and Gloria are kidnapped by the villainous Vasquez (David Palffy). Next up, “Throw Momma From The Train” begins at 10:15 p.m. ET. In this hilarious update on the Hitchcock classic “Strangers On a Train,” Danny DeVito and Billy Crystal star as a writing student and his professor who devise a way to trade murders. Just when you thought mom couldn’t take any more laughter, we’ve got “Oy Vey My Son is Gay” at 12:15 a.m. ET. Lainie Kazan and Carmen Electra star in this coming-out comedy about a nice Jewish boy whose mother will just not stop setting him up with dates.
